OUT OF ORDER

conversation piece

A souvenir spoon is a decorative spoon used to signify or hold a memory of a place or event, or to display as a ‘trophy’ of having been there.

Out of order is a serie of souvenir teaspoons and is presented as conversation piece. The spoons are showing how towers from different periods are evolving and how you can understand contemporary surveillance technologies in relation to older towers from changing times in history. By transforming them to everyday objects we investigate wether the towers lose their historical, or their associated negative connotations. On the backside of each teaspoon coordinates are engraved of the exact location of the tower.

The serie was  designed and offered as addition to the UN delegates lounge in New York. But refused due to diplomatic bureaucracy.
